Zoe Critical Afternoon update

Zoe hangs on. Her blood pressure has been as low as 24/12 and is the immediate concern. She cannot be sustained at that level. Here is the raw medical assessment: Because of infection from her perforated bowel, her capillaries have opened up and leaked fluid into her surrounding tissue. She has a very visible edema. She is on strong antibiotics to try to beat the infection back. Until the infection is defeated, any medication to control her blood pressure will be like trying to bail out a leaky boat with a bucket. I just peeked my head in the door and her current blood pressure was 34/15, a little better than before, but still critically low. She has been on antibiotics for approximately 24 hours, and gets another dose every 12 hours.

We chatted with a social worker and they have a service here where they get professional photographers to take beautiful artistic pictures of critically ill babies in the NICU for free. A photographer will be arriving at 3 to take pictures of our babies. Shortly thereafter, we will be meeting with the attending neonatologist to discuss Zoe’s progress and what the next steps may be.

  2. Praying, praying…Zoe is a fighter in her little ways. God sees all the sleepless nights you guys go through. He sees all the pain in your hearts and I know He is answering all the prayers. I will continue to pray for your family.

  4. I am just writing to let you guys know we are praying for you and for your whole family…and especially Zoe. We just had a faculty meeting at 3 in the library and as part of that we prayed for all of you. Know that all of you are loved very deeply! Our prayers continue!

  5. I’m walking out the door right now to drive down to Bass, so I’ve got a lot of hours to pray. I love you guys.

  7. My heart hurts for all you are going through right now. I’m praying that the Lord sustains you and holds you and your babies close. How I long for Heaven so that we can then see God’s infinite wisdom in allowing the trials that we must endure here on earth.

    Love,

  8. Continued prayers for you all. I can’t imagine how hard all of this has been for you. If I could hug you all right now, I would. Praying and praying…

  9. My heart aches for you both. I have been praying for Zoe all day. We did have our daughter annointed at one point, and it was a turning point. Something to think about. I am praying for strength and comfort for you. Praying for little Zoe to hang in there and keep fighting.
    Sincerely,

    I love you all!!

    Hugs and prayers

  12. So many times during the day we stop and pray for Zoe and Juliana and for both of you. How easy it is for us who aren’t facing the trials you are going through to say God is good all the time and all the time God is good. But sometimes when we are going through trials all we can do is to hold on to this belief. God give you peace and rest.

    Paul and Celinda

  13. We’re still praying. May God hold you in His arms and give you the strength for each moment. May He touch little Zoe with His healing hand and give her the strength to keep fighting.
